Why hello there!

I’ve been away for a while. You may remember me as that girl who lives in Sofia and writes about her life on the blog Karolinkabulgaria. Then again you may not remember me as I’ve been pretty bad about writing on this blog recently.

It may, just may, have to do with the fact that I haven’t been up to much that seemed blog-worthy. I try not to complain about things on my blog as this blog could turn into one long rant.

So instead I took an extended blogging vacation. It’s been a topsy-turvy month.

As you may remember, I broke my hand in December. This was unexpected and rather inconvenient. I couldn’t cook for myself, I couldn’t do my own laundry, I struggled to take a shower and I walked around for a month with my coat unbuttoned.  Since the cast came off, I’ve been going to physical therapy and doing my exercises. It’s neither interesting nor very sexy but I am happy to report that my hand feels better each day.

Come January, after two weeks of Christmas vacation in Europe, I had a hard time getting back into the swing of things at work. We had two and half weeks of class in January before the semester ended and I spent most of that time teaching, grading, planning and writing exams.  I’ve really struggled to get caught up at work after teaching for two weeks with a cast on and not being able to staple things easily let alone take the cap off of my white board markers with one hand. Things are getting better little by little but I really could use a few extra hours each day.

This past week and this next week, I’ll be grading my heart out and getting ready for next semester. Sometimes I wonder if it ever gets any easier. Being a teacher is hard work.

Okay, to be fair, being a student is hard work too.

This brings us to February. Right?! How did it get to be February already?!

Anyhow, I’m looking forward to February.  I plan to get out more in Sofia. There are some new restaurants that I want to check out and some favorites that I want to return to. Oh and I’ve still got to go back to Wok to Walk as I haven’t tried all of the flavor combinations and I’m apparently giving it my best go.

Then there’s a spa weekend in my future as well as a long weekend in Prague with friends. How lucky am I?

The other great thing about February? It’s a short month and that means spring is almost just around the corner.

So I’ll end on this note: it’s good to be back. I hope that you haven’t missed me too much.
