It’s official my dAd and sister are coming to visit for three weeks in late June/July. All I can say is watch out, Bulgaria. You’ve probably never met a guy my dAd before.

In fact this is an excerpt of an email that I got from this week which demonstrates both his dedication to all things Bulgarian and his unique-dAd-ness.

Heck, just yesterday a local college called to see if I would teach a Furniture Building class for Spring Term… I talked with MoM and I thought about it and I told them NO, I would be too busy planning a trip to Bulgaria.

So what have I done?  I talked with C. [my little sister] about when she could go and for how long.  Then I took a nap so that I would be well rested…

Next, I looked a great blog about Bulgaria (and other stuff)…  “Karolinka in and around Bulgaria”.  It’s actually pretty good – maybe we can check out some of the places she has been.   Then I watched Andrew Zimmerman’s Bizzare Foods – he eats all sorts of unusual and gross foods.  I think he ate calf brains at the Grand Bazaar – no Mad Cow disease for me.

I think I’ll just have a shot of Rakia instead… EAEKCNP!!!… CHOUGH…CHOUGH…WHEEZ…WHOO…….WHOOOO!!!

I think that a ½ of shot will do… sipped slowly of course… whenever you ever try it, it warms all of the way down…

I also looked at the NY Times best “Places to go in 2013.”  Istanbul was one of the places as well as several other in places in Eastern Europe… There were 46 places, in all, including the White Salmon River in the Columbia Gorge… [Note: this last place is not so far from my hometown of Walla Walla, WA.]

And MoM just rescued my whole email when I lost it – it had nothing to do the Rakia – but I’m going to send it before I lose it!

Love you,

dAd

What can I say? I am clearly the luckiest girl in the world. I just can’t believe that i have to wait for five months for their visit. Although maybe it’s a good think. It will give me plenty of time to plan and obsess about their trip and to map out a route that loops through southern Bulgaria to Istanbul and back up to the Black Sea to northern Bulgaria and then back to Sofia.

How exciting, I bet your dad and sister will have the best time…….

Have a good time while your dAd and C are in town. Bulgaria’s gain will be Walla Walla’s loss. I can’t wait to hear your dAd’s Bulgarian rap and read his blog posts when he returns.

I’m super excited too. And it gives me time to drive everyone in my life crazy. “Did you know I’m going to Bulgaria in July? Oh, I’ve told you 7 times?”
