Well today marks the end of 2012. How did this happen already!? I really can’t believe that 2013 is nearly here.
Here’s what I had for breakfast.
Homemade makitsi. Yum, yum. Makitsti are kind of like doughnuts–fried dough which you can then top with powered sugar, honey or jam.
I also had a mug of Turkish coffee and a bowl of yogurt. It was a great combination of sweet and savory.
No matter where you are or what time you’ll be ringing in 2013–Happy New Year to each of you!!

That’s a grand breakfast
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you, here’s to 2013!!!!!
Every Saturday my mother in-law prepares mekitzi in the style of her hometown Berkovitza. This past November, I had the opportunity to try them in the Rhodopi’s. They were so different, yet both so tasty. Happy New Year.
