Ringing in 2013

Well today marks the end of 2012. How did this happen already!? I really can’t believe that 2013 is nearly here.

Here’s what I had for breakfast.

Homemade makitsi. Yum, yum. Makitsti are kind of like doughnuts–fried dough which you can then top with powered sugar, honey or jam.

I also had a mug of Turkish coffee and a bowl of yogurt. It was a great combination of sweet and savory.

No matter where you are or what time you’ll be ringing in 2013–Happy New Year to each of you!!

  4. Every Saturday my mother in-law prepares mekitzi in the style of her hometown Berkovitza. This past November, I had the opportunity to try them in the Rhodopi’s. They were so different, yet both so tasty. Happy New Year.
