I woke up this morning in my childhood bedroom. It’s nice to be home. Sure I’ve only been here for one day but that’s okay.
Yesterday, I woke up early–like 3:30am early. Then I drank coffee and read magazines until my parents woke up. My mom didn’t get up until sometime after 6am. So I had a lot of time to myself.
My dad made me oatmeal. I ate it out of a Bulgarian bowl topped with strawberries. Yum, yum.
After this, I ran some errands with my mom. We went to Staples. We went to Ace Hardware. We went to Albertson’s. We went to the bank. I drank an iced Americano. I stopped by my dAd’s antique store.
Then I took a nap. When I woke up my suitcase had arrived and my new computer. Naps are magic.
My brother and his fiancee came over after work to say hello. After this, all I could think about was my pillow and by 9pm I was in bed asleep.
It’s nice to be home.
Oh and today my friend R. arrives. You may remember her from such hijinks as my Balkan adventure two summers ago or my first year in Bulgaria when I was on a Fulbright and she was on a Fulbright in Budapest. Watch out Walla Walla, watch out.

Jim and I are looking forward to seeing you and your family at Nick’s wedding!
