Wow. When it rains it pours. One day and the promise of two packages.
I haven’t gotten mail in ages. So this was a huge surprise. Okay, I knew that one of the two packages was coming my way but the other one well that’s a mystery.
Yesterday, I got a package from my parents in the mail. I went to pick up some photocopies and there it was in my teacher-mailbox at school. It’s a lot easier to get mail and packages at school so that’s address I’ve given my friends and family. (You can send fan mail here as well.)
I am not going home for Christmas this year so it was exciting to get a package from my parents. They listed everything in the package on the customs list: socks ($20), candy ($5), earrings ($20).
Really, $20 socks!?
I love my family!!
Even though I know what’s in the package I’ve decided to save it until December 25th to open it. And really, it’s not like I know exactly what’s in it.
Then I got home last night to find a package slip attached to my apartment door. What, what!?
I have absolutely no idea who sent me a package at home. I can’t for the life of me think of who knows my address in these apartments aside from my friends. But really who’s sending me a package through the mail when they could just give it to me?!
To make matters that much more interesting, I can’t tell where I am supposed to go to actually pick up my package. My package slip just has a bunch of numbers. My building number. My apartment number. The times I can pick up the package. The date of the attempted delivery. And then there are a couple of unknown numbers which I assume must reveal the location of the post office or maybe this knowledge is just assumed.
I mean, really, why don’t I know where the post office is in Mladost 1A?!
Oh and the thing you can tell from a picture is that the slip is made out of cheap recycled paper. I love this country.
Anyhow, we’ll see what happens. I sent out a plea for help on twitter. Because, really, why not?

On the slip it is also marked that it is not a package but a large letter. Usually this means a book!
@TN Wow! Great guess. I think that it’s either a book or a journal which is what my friend R. declared on the customs slip!!
The package slip says that it is a small package or a letter (not clear which was ticked first). Here’s the address of the post office: ПС София – 129 ж.к. “Младост”, бл. No 509, вх. А ж.к. “Младост” 1А, 1729, phone: (02) 877-54-14. I found this info here:
http://www.bgpost.bg/files/custom/Post%20Office%20Sofia%20Last-1.pdf
Your package was delivered on December, 13th, and you’ll have 20 days to pick up. The slip also says that you have to go to the cashier counter.
Greetings from a Bulgarian in Berlin
@yana Thanks so much! I got my package maybe an hour ago!!
Those are amazing socks. Wait until you see them.
Note: they are the result of trying to “Live Local”
Love,
MoM
@MoM I don’t doubt it for a minute. It was just funny to see on the customs declaration.
You can open the box because of the CHRISTMAS RAP around each item… little packages would look oh “so cute” (lifestyle blog terminology) underneath a small tree…
@dAd I found the Christmas
Wrap. I wondered if you’d be able to sneak it in this year. I also found a giant Hersey’s Kiss. Funny thing is, I’d been thinking about Heresy’s kisses recently. That’s one candy I’ve never seen here.
